Anderson low e windows

by P. Madden

Seems to be something around edges of Anderson low e windows that causes water to bead and leave water spots and trails that I can't remove.

spots on edges of windows
by: Jack Wagner

I do a lot of building maintenance along with floor and window cleaning for a motel. The spots on edges of windows can be caused by a number of things. If you have pictures of the windows you are talking about you should post it so that it might be easier to identify. These window spots could be caused from anything such as hard water spots to silicone window caulking. My first reccomendation would be to try using a light abrasive cleaning paste such as non bleach soft N scrub(use non bleach so that you don't reck any surfacese that it may come in contact with.) and then rinse with hot soapy water. I find that the soft n scrub cleaner is very gentle on glass but tough on removing spots from windows.

glass spot removal
by: Anonymous

I tried the Soft Scrub and it did a better job than anything else I've use. Got even better results with Weiman Glass Cooktop cleaner, glass cooktop scouring pad & lots of elbow grease with final wipe down using microfiber cloth and hot water. Thanks DIY window cleaning tips...far more helpful than Andersen window company has been.

Thanks, Jack Wagner

Silicone Residue on The Glass
by: Ray Croskrey

By the description of how the water beads and runs off the glass my first guess is that there is silicone residue on the glass. At some point during the assembly of the glass unit there was extra wet silicone left on the glass that someone had wiped off thus leaving behind an invisible residue.

Silicone will leave an invisible layer on the surface of the glass that is very hard to remove. I’m glad to hear that the stove top cleaner worked. When I run into this I use a product called Sani Scrub also called Miracle Scrub. It works wonders on removing a lot of different things from glass such as light paint overspray, hard water spots, silicone residue etc. Here is a link to the product. http://astore.amazon.com/doityourswind-20/detail/B002ZTXPM4
