Homemade Cleaning Products

Homemade cleaning products are a great alternative than using regular commercial house cleaners. You can make your own homemade cleaners like homemade carpet cleaner, homemade window cleaner and even your own homemade dish soap. You can make your own homemade cleaners from simple house hold items such as white distilled vinegar, salt, all natural lemon juice, baking soda, rubbing alcohol, olive oil, ammonia, hydrogen peroxide and a variety of other interesting ingredients.

Homemade Cleaning Recipes

Caution: When is comes to the recipes for the homemade cleaning products you should always use caution. Before mixing any type of ingredient or chemical do a lot of research. Some ingredients if mixed wrong can cause explosions, toxic gases, and dangerous acidic levels all of which can cause serious injury or even death.

Always perform a test by using a small amount of your homemade cleaning solution on an inconspicuous area of what ever it is you are about to clean. A homemade cleaner may work great for some situations but, not for others so, always test it first.

Homemade Cleaners for Carpet

Solution makes one gallon.

  • 1/4 cup lemon-scented ammonia
  • 1/4 cup white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon clear Ivory liquid dish washing soap
  • hot water

Directions: Mix the first 2 ingredients into a large gallon-sized container. Add water; enough to equal just shy of one gallon. Add dish liquid at the end. Shake or stir. Then add directly to the carpet cleaning machines applicator compartment. Follow carpet cleaning machines operating instructions.

Carpet Spot Remover

  • white vinegar
  • baking soda

Mix white vinegar and baking soda together to form a paste. Then, work the paste into the carpet stain with an old toothbrush, or something similar. Allow the paste to dry; then vacuum up the baking soda, and the stain should be gone. Note: Some stains may need to be treated more than once.



Homemade Linoleum Floor Cleaner

  • 1/4 cup baking soda

  • 2 gallons hot water

  • 1 table spoon dish soap

  • 1/4 cup vinegar

Dissolve the baking soda in water and once almost full add 1 table spoon. dish soap. (If you add it too early it is makes it very sudsy and may leave streaks on your floor.) Once you have 2 gallons of hot water with baking soda & dish soap, add 1/4 cup vinegar and you’re ready to mop.

Homemade Dish Soap

  • 1/4 cup soap flakes (from grated ivory bar)

  • 2 cups hot water

  • 1/4 cup glycerin

  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon essential oil

Let soap flakes dissolve in water. Add glycerin and lemon oil. Let cool. Funnel into squeeze container.

Homemade Window Cleaner

  • 1 Gallon of Hot Distilled Water
  • 1/4 Teaspoon any liquid dish soap

Distilled vinegar will help loosen mineral build up. Pre-spray glass with full strength and let sit for five minutes. Then rinse off the vinegar. You will get streak-free glass every time using your homemade window cleaner along with the proper window cleaning tools and window cleaning techniques.

Multi Purpose Homemade Cleaners

  • 1 Cup Distilled White Vinegar
  • 1 Cup Water

Mix together in a spray bottle and you'll have your own multi purpose cleaner. This is most divers out of all the homemade cleaning products. You can clean just about all the surfaces found in the bathroom and kitchen. If you have marble counter tops check with the cleaning instructions as vinegar can sometimes leave marks on the surface of the marble.

Homemade Cleaning Products for the Toilet

  • Baking Soda
  • Lemon Juice
  • Vinegar (for toilets with mineral build up)

Sprinkle a little baking soda and lemon juice into your toilet and let it site for 30minutes. Then scrub with a toilet brush
